Why Acupuncture?

And When?

Acupuncture is profoundly effective. Even into my second decade of practice I am regularly struck by the endless list of ailments eased by even a few sessions.

While I get lots of Acupuncture and Massage and Reiki, I also use western medicine. As a patient, learning "who has the tools for the job" is a very important journey.  Just as one wouldn't call a plumber when the car won't start, we need to learn that there's a choice of providers for any given problem.

Western medicine is very good as keeping you alive, fixing broken parts and diagnosing disease. Most of us are looking for something else but don’t know where to go.  Our symptoms are “subclinical” meaning they don’t yet show up on blood tests. Or our pain symptoms are not effectively resolved via PT or Pharmacy interventions. Or we’ve gotten as far as we can and need to try a new approach.

Now it’s time for Acupuncture! You can expect to experience everything from improved range of motion to ease in digestion, better sleep, focus/attention/retention.  Initially you'll feel changes to mood, pain and stress level. With consistent treatment it's likely you'll notice you need fewer doses of ibuprofen, less reliance on coffee, fewer episodes of road rage. Wellness allows us to feel less frustration and enjoy more happiness.

Efficacy

We will see to the heart of the issue through our initial conversations and treat your body and mind appropriately with the right techniques.

·      Often symptoms are significantly improved after a few treatments. You'll feel change the first time.
·      Even a 15% improvement is enough to give someone hope and patience as their body heals. Patients often report 80% improvement quickly.
·      I suggest giving the Acupuncture 6 treatments (on average) to truly gauge the impact. Often you know after the first sessions that you are in the right place.

Everyone needs a good car mechanic, why wouldn’t everybody need a good body mechanic.

·      I have some clients I see weekly. This is about supporting ease in daily life, resolving long standing issues and healing new issues as they arise.  Others visit periodically as injuries arise. I am someone you come to for support, help and perspective
·      I promote the cultivation of a diverse toolbox of Wellness. Acupuncture as a part of the whole, not all healing happens in my office. Much is set in motion by the Acupuncture and more is facilitated by your self-care as we build your toolbox.
